The Many Uses of A Rug
Floor Protector
A rug is sometimes used to protect the floor from scratches and other damage or dirt that comes daily. For most ordinary homes, there are many different kinds of rugs which are used in many different rooms and areas of the home. Some of the places where these are used to protect the floors are usually those with wooden floors with heavy furniture which can scratch the floors. In some cases, the rug can be a carpet on which the furniture is placed on or where children are supposed to play on.
A rug can also protect the floor by being the thing on which muddied shoes are scraped on or wiped on before entering the home. The outdoor rug is commonly used as a scraping area on which dirt, dust and other debris from the outside are left behind.
Absorb Wetness
This floor accessory can also be a bathroom accessory that is used to absorb the wetness that someone who had just taken a bath may find necessary to avoid slipping and tracking wet footprints. This kind of rug which is commonly found in the bathroom or kitchen is usually made of natural fibers to promote better absorption of water and other kinds of liquids.
In the bathroom, a rug may need to have a non slip backing in order for it to not move around or slip when someone steps on it. Most backing that is placed on it are made of rubber which can effectively stop the rug from slipping when weight or pressure is applied on it.
Decoration
This floor accessory is now more recently considered to be a decoration or accent to the home which helps to make the ambience or mood of a room. A Persian carpet can transform a room or area to a formal one just by being on the floor. Some of these rugs are also placed on walls as a decoration.
A rug has many functions ion the home. The way you use it is up to you, whether in a functional or decorative way.
